I feel like they add a perfect little touch of elegance, glamour and of course a bit of whimsy-especially when it is something like a gold squirrel or pug. So today, I am going to bring in little gold animal figurines to accessorize our bookcases. Now, I have seen several of these figurines at high-end design stores and they can sell for a ridiculous amount of money! However, there is a simple and fun project you can do to get the look and not feel like you’re spending an arm and a leg for that golden goose!
For this easy DIY project, you can find plastic animals (or whatever you want to use) almost anywhere! Dollar stores are always a great place to start!
Spray primer
Gold spray paint
Cardboard or newspaper for a clean surface
Plastic gloves
Mask
Directions:
Start with a clean animal on your painting surface.
In a well-ventilated area, spray your figure with primer.
It’s very important to use the primer first.
Let it dry for several hours.
Now that it is dry, spray with the gold spray paint. You might need to do a couple of coats and also let one side dry and then turn it over and spray the bottom.
Allow it to dry for about a day and voila! You have yourself a stylish little gold figurine!
